Project Life Update

I haven't been posting about Project Life lately but rest assured I'm still doing it. I'm almost finish now with Ella's baby pictures and very soon I will be starting my son's baby pic. I'm not sure if I mentioned here that I am not too impress about Project Life albums or rather binder. I resolve this matter by trying out the faux leather binder album of WeRMemoryKeeper an  I also bought a bunch of their plastic photosheets.

About a month ago, Becky Higgins launched her Projct Life at HSN and unfortunately, HSN doesn't send to our location.  So for you out there who missed that one great oppurtunity to get kits at a very good price like me, couple more weeks and those kits will be released in Amazon and craft stores like Hobby Lobby.  I can't wait! I also bought 3 more kits couple weeks ago - Clementine,  Seafoam and Turquiose.  The last kits I bought was the Babykit for Him, Babykit for Her, Cobalt and Amber.  I didn't like the Amber too much.

I'm also been mixing journal cards from other scrapbooking companies like Simple Stories, Echo Park, Webster, Pebbles and alot more.  Echo Park and Doodlebug though are my favorites.  I've been also incorporating 4X6 and 3X4 journals images from Silhouette online store.  And if you ever find Project Life to be a little bit pricey, then I suggest you look into WeRMemoryKeeper Albums Made Easy Collections.

... with heartfelt sympathy

Today's post will be a Sympathy card I made for my sister-in-law. It is a sad day for her and the whole family and I wanted her to know that we are thinking about her.  This is my first time to make such card and picking an image and sentiment was a bit hard.  I don't normally buy alot of "Sympathy" sentiments because I don't like the idea that I'll be sending a whole lot of sympathy cards.  It means death.

 I decided to go with violet/lilac, yellow and cool grey for my color motif.

 And here's the inside...

I love the simplicity and elegance of the lace design on this patterned paper that is why I opted for this particular one.

Cardstocks:  Neenah paper, American Craft and Stampin' Up!
Patterned Paper: My Minds Eye
Coloring Medium: Copic and Shinhan Markers
Stamp: Flourishes (Image) and Sweet & Sassy (sentiments)
Inkpads: Memento (Tuxedo Black) and Stampin' Up! (Lovely Lilacs & Daffodil Delight)

Tools: Fiskars (paper trimmer), Martha Stewart (mini-scoreboard), Spellbinder (diecut machine and dies), WRMKeeper (enveloper), Scotch (ATG), electric glue gun,
Embellishments: Recollection (half pearls), Hancock Fabric (lace), Butterfly (unknown) and Verve Stamp (seam binding)

Are you very particular with pens?  Well, I am!  Most often than not, my penmanship is a lot prettier and neater if I'm using a good pen.  Since Project Life will be a lifetime memento from me to my kids, it needs a special pen.  And so glad I found this during one of our trip to dollar souk.  Didn't cost alot and it has a good selection of colors.  Point was really fine (its .03) and that's what I like most about it...  Just sharing.

My first Project Life project...

Okay so I took the plunge and joined the Project Life wagon.  Now the next step is how to get started!? Think! Think! Think! Can I really do this?

No answer came but my hands started picking one thing after the other.  The next thing I knew I made 10 pages in a matter of hours.  No fuzz.  No mess.  A total guilt free memory keeping.

These pictures were taken when our first born Ella, was born.  It took me 8years to get it done but it only took me couple hours to do it.  Thank you, Becky Higgins for creating Project Life.

Now, its a work week again and I'm back to doing the toughest job I have right now and that is home schooling.  Today, while I do homeschooling, I edited pictures so I can blogged about my Project Life.  Tomorrow and for the rest of the week, I will work on the story/journaling of this chapter of our lives.

When I showed this to our daughter, she asked me why I didn't have the album.  These pages sits in a box where the PL photo packet came.  Hubby said, go ahead and buy the Project Life album and some of the stuff you need.  Son said, do mine next Mom! Ain't it good to have a supportive husband and kids who are interested to see their lives in pictures and read the story behind it!?

Just before I posted this, I got a notification from Amazon saying, my next purchases is already on the way... Can't wait!

Time for bed...

Do I really wanna do it?

Do I really wanna do it? That is the question I've been asking myself since Becky Higgins started her Project Life.  I've been following her FB since I don't know when.  I admire her constant taking of pictures of their everyday lives and her way of recording it... Then Project Life product line was born. I asked myself the same question again, still, the answer was no. I don't have time for it.  I can barely do a layout each month, much more, recording everyday life.

About two weeks ago, Becky Higgins announced that Project Life, Olive Edition was on sale at Amazon.  Couple hours later, it was out of stocked already.  Arrgh! Prior to seeing the Olive Edition, I'm still not convince to do PL but then I saw the designs. OMG! and it was designed by none other than Heather Bailey.  I'm a big fan of her...and so finally, I take the plunge.

For a starter, I only bought the Olive Edition and the Cherry Edition for the core kits.  Then I also bought the Childhood Mini-kits: Wellington, Bridgeport and Mayfield.  Part of my inital purchases was 2 sets of Big Variety of Photo Packets Pack 1 (60sheets). Yeah, tell me about not wanting to start PL...

Thursday of last week, I got all the items I bought.  I don't know how should I start so I just followed my guts and decided to work on my collection of die-cuts and journaling cards. Yeah, you heard me right. I been collecting journaling cards for no apparent reason.  I loved them!  I arranged them according to manufacturer and laid them all in a wooden box. Oh, I got the wooden box from smoked salmon gift to me by hubby.  Sshhh, didn't like the salmon but I did enjoy getting the box (mean, right!?).

 So here's the whole collection of 3 X 4's and 2 1/2 X 4's journaling cards.  Also, included

are the MME stamps that coordinates with PL projects.

I wish I brought with me all my journaling tags and cards but sine we were weight restricted during the last move, I was only able to bring a few.  Some of these too, were hauled from Cherry on Top online scrapbook store (they're one of my recent fave!). 

 These were mostly PL products.  I love the 4 X 6 grid cards and so I bought 2 of those. LOL

After a night of cutting and sorting and arranging of these yummies, the next step was to organize the pictures.

 BTW, I stopped having the pictures printed and told myself I will only get it printed once all the pictures that I currently have, made it in a scrapbook layout (yeah I wonder too, when or if that ever happens.)

 I was almost done but then I came acrossed some die-cuts that I think would compliment well the PL pages. Took them out and tossed them in this IKEA plastic drawer organizer.

 These are mostly shapes, tags, labels, banner, tabs, alpha's and a few quotes/words.

 ...a box of lose 12 X 12 designer/patterned paper sitting next to a box of scraps was on the floor. I also put my acrylic box  full of washi tape where I can easily grab it while doing PL. 

These Project Life goodies now occupies half of my craft table.  Everything is within reach.  From embellishment to tools and papers.  Now all that's missing is a Project Life project.

So do you think I could make it!?  I hope so or else I would never justify my PL hoarding...  I guess we'll see about that in my next post...
