Just a quick post for today. I made this card for my sister-in-law which would be mail together with the handmade jewelries we bought for her.  I have to make another card since I decided to keep for myself the Steampunk card I made for her.  Want to see the Steampunk card that I was talking about, click HERE.

... with heartfelt sympathy

Today's post will be a Sympathy card I made for my sister-in-law. It is a sad day for her and the whole family and I wanted her to know that we are thinking about her.  This is my first time to make such card and picking an image and sentiment was a bit hard.  I don't normally buy alot of "Sympathy" sentiments because I don't like the idea that I'll be sending a whole lot of sympathy cards.  It means death.

 I decided to go with violet/lilac, yellow and cool grey for my color motif.

 And here's the inside...

I love the simplicity and elegance of the lace design on this patterned paper that is why I opted for this particular one.

Are you very particular with pens?  Well, I am!  Most often than not, my penmanship is a lot prettier and neater if I'm using a good pen.  Since Project Life will be a lifetime memento from me to my kids, it needs a special pen.  And so glad I found this during one of our trip to dollar souk.  Didn't cost alot and it has a good selection of colors.  Point was really fine (its .03) and that's what I like most about it...  Just sharing.

Sweet & Sassy - The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #193

Next project I will be posting is a card I made for sketch challenge at Sweet & Sassy - The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge # 193:

Here's my take:

 It's been 5mons now since we left home and everybody was missing it.  So to channel the sad emotion, I cut out a Texas map using my Silhouette Cameo and made a card out of it.  I used a monochromatic theme - brown.  We used to joke that most of the time, you'll see nothing but yellow, brown or dirt in Texas.  That joke turned into a card... 

One thing is sure, there is more color in Texas than where we are right now.

 The inside... just making use of the scrap patterned paper.

We will be sending this card to a friend/co-worker of my hubby together with some fresh spices...

Timeless Tuesday #200 - Deck the Tree

First and foremost, congrats to Flourishes for successfully reaching Timeless Tuesday challenge 200.  Thanks to the DT and the wonderful participants for keeping us fellow crafters inspired.

I am really excited to post my entry for this challenge.  I've been working the whole night last night to get this project done.  Thanks to Maki Jones for such a fun challenge - Timeless Tuesday #200 - Deck the Tree! 

For this challenge, I decided to make a hanging lantern ornament using images (lantern, poinsettia, labels, Christmas candle with holly and berries) from Silhouette store.

I made them using acrylic beads.  Interesting right!?  Loved how it came out..

 Probably wondering what is this?  

Well, I'm just showing you that I have to tape the ornament on the wall so I could take pics.  We are still having a hard time looking for concrete screws and wall anchor and we've been here now for almost three months....  

That's the fun of being away from home!

ODBD SLC 135 Challenge: Snow or Snowflake

I admit I've missed making cards and papercrafting so while the seasons calls for it, might as well go with the flow.

This post is an entry for ODBDSLC135 Challenge - Snow or Snowflake.  Since it was only recently that I acquire some ODBD, I didn't have any stamp that would match the snow, snowflake or Christmas theme.  But just the same I would like to join in the fun, so here's what I came up with. 

 This is an 8 1/2 X 4 card.  All images cut using Silhouette Cameo.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday - Non Traditional Holiday Colors

I must be really crafting deprived person since I was making cards like crazy while doing my chores over the weekend.  I wasn't really sure how to take this challenge since red and green are my fave Christmas colors. After thinking I decided to go for purple, aqua green and magenta.  Reminds me of our Christmas lights, which was in storage somewhere in TX...

Anyways, here's my entry for the challenge. I should say that it took alot of effort to color such small image.  Its really been awhile since I last used my copics.  I guess I have to keep on practicing to get use to it again.

My first project in my craftroom

I colored this image sometime ago but I can't make anything out of it because I don't have papers.  Cleaned room must have inspired me!

To note, I finally give in and bought those metal shims that they suggest you use when cutting intricate dies.  Goodness, I wonder what took me so long.  You should have one too and you'll see what difference it makes...

This will be my first time to join the Paper Cutz Challenge.  For this week's challenge, the rule is, ANYTHING GOES! Simply make a card, LO or craft project using any theme or color you'd like!  Since I liked the silver/white monotone entry for Flourishes and Cute Card Thursday, I decided to make another card using almost the same supplies but different stamp image.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday (FTTC95)

Another week is over and that means another week of creating cards. This week's challenge at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #95, is all about doilies.  You can either use those regular doilies you can buy in store or you can simply use your dies or your MS craft punch.  I'm sure alot of people were happy about this challenge.  Doilies are an elegant addition to every handmade cards and scrapbook page.
BTW, this is also my entry for Cute Card Thursday Challenge 140 - Blast from the Past!  This week's rule is to revisit one of their previous challenges.  It can be any of the challenges with the exception of the open theme weeks. Be sure to include the week number and title of the challenge in your post.
I choose Challenge 131- A Sketch by Leann.

Here's my take on this challenge:

I decided to make a monochromatic theme for my entry (white, silver and cool grey tones).  

Then I added a silver foil doily then matted it with a bigger white doily. 

The Flourishes image was stamped and embossed in a clear vellum paper then I matted it in a cool grey CS.

I'm so pleased with this card...

Flourishes stamps are so good for an elegant looking card.  

Happy I'm a collector "Smiling"...

 Do you know that you can actually make your own doilies using your Martha Stewart craft corner punches?

Aren't they pretty and yummy!?

The above doilies were cut in 5 and 1/2 inches in diameter using MS circle cutter. Some of the these homemade doilies were in an odd shape but guess what!?   It actually look great if you 

mix and match doilies. Try it and maybe you would like it.

Don't forget that you can make doilies using your Spellbinder dies too ( the pendant series).  Stamp stores like PTI and MFT has recently released their own doily dies too.  Another option you have is to use your Cricut machines using cartridges like Mother's Day 2010, Cindy Loo and the newly released Paper Lace.
